Dry Brushing: Prevention of Ingrown Hairs

Dry Brushing: Prevention of Ingrown Hairs

The Muffington Post

MP: 118

Summer has a way of making us show a little more skin. Beach days. Pool parties. Patio season. And for many of us, that means shaving, waxing, sugaring, or whatever hair removal feels right.

But then come the uninvited guests. Ingrown hairs. Razor bumps. Redness. The good news? It doesn't have to be part of the deal.

First Things First.

Your routine is yours. No summer rulebook. No pressure from us. We're here to help you feel good in your skin, however you choose to show up.

Why Are Ingrown Hairs Worse In Summer?

More hair removal, sweat, humidity, and friction from swimsuits and bike shorts. Dead skin cells build up, new hairs curl back under the surface. That's when bumps appear.

The Most Overlooked Step

It's exfoliation—but more specifically, dry brushing. It's simple, takes only a few minutes and it's one of those habits that quietly makes everything else work a little better.

Why We Love Dry Brushing

Dry brushing gently lifts away dead skin cells before they have a chance to trap new hair growth beneath the surface. With regular use, many people notice fewer ingrown hairs:

  • Smoother bikini lines, inner thighs and underarms

  • Softer skin, less rough texture

  • A closer, more comfortable shave

  • Skin that feels healthier

As an added bonus, the gentle brushing motion can help stimulate circulation, and many people find it leaves their skin feeling refreshed and energized.

How To Dry Brush

Brush before you shower on dry skin. Use light pressure, brushing upward toward your heart. Around the bikini line, less is more. The skin here is delicate, so gentle, short strokes are all you need. Two or three times a week is plenty.

Don't Skip The Moisture

Exfoliation and hydration work beautifully together. After showering, while your skin is still slightly damp, apply a moisturizer to help replenish hydration and support your skin barrier. We formulated Soft Lotion with plant-based oils to soothe freshly exfoliated skin without feeling heavy.

A Simple Two-Step Routine

  1. Dry Brush: 2-3 times weekly before showering.

  2. Moisturize: Follow with Soft Lotion to help skin feel hydrated and comfortable.

That's it. Simple and effective routines are often the ones we tend to stick with.

Here's To Feeling Comfortable In Your Skin

Summer isn't about perfectly smooth legs or a flawless bikini line. It's about feeling comfortable enough to jump in the lake. Book the beach day. Wear the swimsuit. Or not. Whatever summer looks like for you, we hope you enjoy every minute.

💡 MYTH BUSTER

Myth: "You need to scrub hard to get rid of ingrown hairs." Fact: Actually, intensity can cause micro-tears and irritate the skin further, leading to more inflammation. It’s all about consistency, not intensity. Gentle, regular exfoliation with a dry brush is far more effective than an aggressive scrub.
