Travel Essentials

This week the I Love My Muff team is attending the FC/LA: Creativity Counter-Conference, a two day event that is bringing together some of the most creative people in business, technology, design, and entertainment, in Los Angeles. While I have been packing and getting ready for the trip I have been thinking a lot about what I need to bring and what my travel necessities are. It is important to take into consideration both the place you are visiting and what you will be doing there, but also what you are going to need while you are in transit.

Remember: less is more! When you are traveling to multiple places and taking different kinds of transport it is so important to have as little as possible to carry for your own sanity.

Clutch

It’s great to have a large travel bag but I always have smaller pouches for passports, lip balm, and other products that can get lost. My favourite clutches are from Scout & Catalogue because while they are practical for travel they are also beautiful and are perfect for an evening out.

Versatile Clothing

Feeling comfortable during travel is my number one priority, however, I still want to be fashion forward and look like I’m ready for any situation, from the boardroom to the beach. My favourite style is a slouchy harem pant because it’s relaxed enough to work a casual style but can still mean business when paired with a blazer and heels. I love mine from 3.1 Phillip Lim, but Shopbop has many great options.

Muff Kit

I can’t go anywhere without our I Love My Muff maintenance kit, of course. The bottles are travel sized and they fit perfectly in a carry on. Also, having our wipes on hand always gives me the confidence that I feel fresh anytime, especially after I’ve been sitting on a plane for hours.

Sunscreen

Even if I’m not on vacation, sunscreen is an everyday necessity. I love SkinCeuticals’ Physical Fusion UV Defense and La Roche-Posay’s Anthelios 45. I also bring Prtty Peaushun for that “all day in the sun” glow without actually spending hours in the sunlight.

Book

Whether it’s for when you’re on a plane or lying on a beach during your vacation, having access to great reading material is very important. Start Something That Matters by founder of TOMS, Blake Mycoskie is next on my reading list. We’re excited to be visiting their head office this week to get a behind the scenes look inside this incredible company and successful business model for social entrepreneurship.

Notebook

While there are numerous apps available for taking notes, I like to go old school with paper and pen. My go to pad is the Moleskin Volant. It’s the perfect size to keep in your purse for when inspiration strikes, like jotting down cool quotes or inking that awesome “a ha!” idea.

Muff love,
